2) Honey I’m Home - Wishful Thinking

News from The Netherlands indie-rock / shoegaze band...

Dutch newcomers Honey I’m Home are today sharing their debut single ‘Wishful Thinking’, a thrilling introduction to their own buoyant, head-in-the-clouds shoegaze offering.
The band – completed by Thom Schotanus, Sofie Ooteman, Jasper Meurs, Hugo de Groot and Evelien Keesmaat – arrive with their first official single release on the back of touring in Europe with artists including Goat Girl and Hotline TNT. ‘Wishful Thinking’ was produced by Honey I'm Home and mixed by Sonny Diperri (Julie, DIIV, Protomartyr), its fuzzed-up leanings coupled with an almost impatient approach to reaching a killer melody, immediately pointing towards a band with a clear creative direction and purpose.
Written in the aftermath of the band’s rehearsal space burning down - and subsequent destruction of their amps, guitars and pedals - anyone might be forgiven for confusion over ‘Wishful Thinking’s deceptively sunny aesthetic. What becomes clear though is that the band aren’t wallowing in the present. ‘Wishful Thinking’ is a cloud-parting, euphoric daydream that finds that band at once lusting for the past and hoping for the future. In soaring reassurances like “everything will be fine” and “we’ll work out everything”, the song becomes a heart-warming pep-talk about chasing reconnection. Vocalist and guitarist Thom Schotanus comments on the song: "‘Wishful Thinking’ explores the longing to reconnect with people no longer in your life, whether it’s a lost love or a departed family member.
We tried to capture the intensity of that unfulfilled desire with a layered, dreamlike soundscape."

The Naked Souls - Reverb From The Depths

An integral part of the famed Czech shoegaze scene in the early 1990s, The Naked Souls were formed by Jiří Novák and Milan Šíp.
With songs driven by the soaring guitar parts by Novák and the tender voice of Šíp, The Naked Souls found a home on Lost Records, which was created for the distinct purpose of releasing their music.
The band traveled to Switzerland to record their debut EP, Two and One, that includes their most well-known song, “Sleep”; the video of which became part of the rotation on MTV. The Naked Souls gained some notoriety playing shows in London, Czech Republic, and Switzerland, opening for the likes of Stereolab and Adorable, and even making an appearance on MTV’s 120 Minutes. An LP, entitled Shady Ways Anticlockwise, was released in 1995 on Lost Records. Although it was received well, with many favorable reviews, the band struggled to continue on after the departure of drummer Láďa Bakša. In 2023, The Guardian published an article highlighting the Czech shoegaze scene of the early 90s, prominently featuring The Naked Souls. Since then, there has been newfound interest in The Naked Souls’ music, which has been unavailable for many years. Reverb From The Depths collects all the of music contained on both Two and One and Shady Ways Anticlockwise, and has been carefully mastered for vinyl by Josh Bonati.
With new artwork created by Andy Jossi (of The Churchhill Garden), the double vinyl set is pressed on blue colored vinyl and includes a 12”x 12” insert. Limited to 300 copies.

deary - The Drift (Live at The Lexington)

"deary" follow the release of their second EP, ‘Aurelia’ – which came out late last year to great acclaim – with a stunning live take of one of its stand-out tracks, ‘The Drift’. The song was originally released as the third single from the EP and the new version was recorded at the duo’s sold-out headline show at The Lexington in London back in November. “It was our biggest headline show to date,” says singer Dottie. “It was an incredible moment for all of us to share with friends and family. We love playing ‘The Drift’ live as it erupts into an electric energy that is emerging from our new music."
