2) SPICE - A Better Treatment / Everyone Gets In

News from Rock 'n Roll band from California...
SPICE singer Ross Farrar speaks of the band’s ambition to forge a sort of aesthetic patois: a mode of expression as strikingly regional as it is recognizable. Last year’s self-titled debut, released in the depths of the pandemic, fully achieved this goal, distilling decades of North Bay punk and post-hardcore into an urgent, artful set of emotive unrest.
Their latest single, A Better Treatment b/w Everyone Gets In, further refines the group’s singular mix of weathered melody and abrasive poetics, equal parts bracing, bruised, and cryptic. “A Better Treatment” began as a song about a friend who died but through the turmoil of collaboration transformed into something more macroscopic and opaque, blurring the boundary between hopeful and defeated (“I thought loving someone would cure my self-hatred”). Bass and drums build against walls of guitar while the violin threads its own melancholy within the noise; Farrar is blunt about the intention: “The violin is an instrument of death you know.” “Everyone Gets In” is both poppier and more pained, an anthem for angst aging into the reverie of regret: “We lose our strength / along the way / we lose each other / the funeral sways.” The tempo sways too, gradually slowing to an anxious crawl before finally revving back into a storm of shimmering guitar and splashing drums, fighting against the dying of the light. It’s music of raw truths and rejected pedestals, storied but unswerving, a revolt against the great regress: “and my / my time is spent / adoring seasons / that I / I never should’ve.” credits

2) White Stains - Blood On The Beach

News from hardcore-punk Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania band...
The drudgery of the last few months are over and we've got 4 new tracks of punk rock expressed through what sounds like plaque-caked teeth and furry tongues. "Blood On The Beach" is made up of four drunken gospels to the gods of Nowhere and Boredom. Keith's "I'd-rather-be-watching-sitcoms" vocals are backed up with a band that might not know how to do anything better than play American Hardcore the way it was meant to be played. Ferocity in salty leather and ripped jeans. Artwork by Keith Caves. RIYL Fang, Sick Pleasure, The Living. VINYL PREORDER LAUNCHES NOVEMBER 5TH. 1000 copies total. 200 on Red. 800 on black. credits releases November 5, 2021 Recorded on a half-broken 4-track. New single from Chicago, Illinois dreampop...
I didn’t know I was the one who’d call you This late at night I didn’t know I was the one who cared me, But I guess I won’t put up a fight And when the sunlight, shines through my windows I promise that I’ll still be awake Because I don’t really sleep much anymore And I’m used to watching daybreak I wish I could love myself As much as I love everybody else And I’m not sure if I want to die But I don’t think I really want to stay alive I’m sorry if this makes you sad It’s just how I feel Because most days I don’t notice I’m awake Or that any of this

4) Daniel Avery - Yesterday Faded (Edit)

Living inside the world of Together in Static has been an intense and beautiful experience for me. From finishing it in lockdown, to the live gigs at Hackney Church through to the concert film - the record has helped light the path back to some form of normality in my life. I’m really happy to close this chapter with Yesterday Faded, one of my favourite tracks from the record, and I’m gassed to see what happens next. DA xxx

5) Tycho - Only Love (LP Giobbi Remix)

News from electronic / ambient / avant pop Scott Hansen San Francisco, California Tycho and Benjamin Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie & The Postal Service recently shared a landmark new collaboration with single “Only Love”. Now, the circle of collaboration is extended further as Austin-based producer, DJ, pianist and activist LP Giobbi adds her piano loops and high-energy beats to the mix. LP Giobbi has become one of electronic music’s fastest-rising stars. Considering herself “a one-woman jam band. Speaking on the remix, she comments: "Tycho is such an inspiring mix of real instruments and electronic music so it was a true honor to get to work on one of his tracks. I took it as an opportunity to create a musical, emotional journey that hopefully takes the listener through soundscapes of uplifting joy which is what I feel after listening to a Tycho track." “Only Love” stands as a powerful anthem from both artists, meticulously fusing Tycho’s transcendent production and signature arrangements with Gibbard’s cathartic, deeply humanist lyricism. The first new major electronic collaboration for Gibbard since his RIAA platinum certified work in The Postal Service more than a decade ago, the track began its life after Death Cab for Cutie invited Hansen to remix their 2015 single, “The Ghosts of Beverly Hills.” Though Hansen is famously selective about commissioned remixes, he fully connected with the... more credits released November 4, 2021
