2) Holm - Intelligent Moves

New single from Holm - the solo project by Copenhagen, Denmark Mikkel Holm Silkjær (Yung).
Taken from the debut LP Why Don't You Dance out November 12 via PNKSLM Recordings Mikkel Holm Silkjær, the frontman of Danish indie rock combo Yung, is finally set to release his long-awaited debut solo record as Holm - the first release with this solo project since 2018’s ”Dappled” EP. Titled “Why Don’t You Dance”, it’s a product of three years of writing and nearly six months of recording, it’s a gleefully varied guitar-pop record that veers between styles, from the fizzing energy of ‘Descending’ and opener ‘Intelligent Moves’ to the gorgeously melodic ‘Like a Dog’ and ‘The Rope’, via the stately introspection of tracks like ‘K’s Choice’ and lead single ‘Back Home’. Recorded by Yung bandmate Tobias Guldborg Tarp (who co-produced alongside Neil Robert Young), Why Don’t You Dance is the sound of Silkjær stepping away from his group’s predilection for taut rock and roll and instead embracing a different side of his musical personality, one defined by his sharp ear for a hook, as well as - crucially - his burgeoning ability as an expressive lyricist. The record is out November 12th digitally and on black vinyl, green vinyl (indie store exclusive) & pink vinyl (Scandinavia exclusive) via PNKSLM Recordings (ShitKid, Les Big Byrd, Holy etc.).

4) Chime School - It's True

Taken from Chime School's self-titled debut album, out Nov 5 on Slumberland Records.
Cinematograper: Mike Ramos Chime School is the project of San Francisco musician Andy Pastalaniec. Charmed by 80s indie and its 60s forbearers, Andy cut his teeth as a drummer with SF groups Pink Films, Cruel Summer, and Seablite; now he has come out from behind the kit to write and record his own material. The aptly named Chime School pays homage to the formative jangle of The Byrds by way of early Primal Scream and The Springfields; the production and pop sensibility of the Biff Bang Pow and The Razorcuts; and the spirit of great singles labels like Creation, Postcard and Sarah. From the dreamy album opener "Wait Your Turn" to the driving jangle of singles "Taking Time To Tell You" and "It's True" we can see that we're in the presence of a very talented writer indeed, someone with a lifetime's worth of pop fandom just waiting to burst out in song.
