Singles of the Week (12//22)

1) Priestgate - Eyes Closed For The Winter

News from Driffield, UK dreampop / indie-rock band

Hailing from the sleepy rural town of Driffield, Yorkshire, Priestgate are charismatic, angsty and euphoric in equal measure. After a stellar year of experimentation, the band have emerged in 2020 with their own brand of guitar music infusing pop hooks with dark sensibilities as popularised by The Cure and Joy Division. The band have received support from So Young, Radio 1 and 6Music.

2) Arts & Letters - Asleep

News from jangle pop Clare, Australia...
Asleep, my first ever LP, was written and recorded in the span of three days, using only the equipment I had within arms reach (a Squier Tele, CE-20, Space Echo and a Music Man amp). I received no additional help aside from the title track which was co-written by my dear friend Susan (who was the primary inspiration of this album). Akin to my last EP as English Summer, the songs on this record are of a more uplifting nature and are more structured than before, such as the Tom Petty inspired “My English Crush”, the short yet sweet jangle belter “Saviours” and the dreary midnight drive “30 Miles”. “I don’t care how many songs we write for each other, I’ll still fall asleep to your voice on the radio.” credits released March 22, 2022 Tracks 1-6 written by Caleb Carr Track 7 written by Caleb Carr & Susan Anne Messner Recorded and produced by Caleb Carr at home March 2022.

3) No Future - Death

News from Raw Punk band From Perth, Australia...
Apocalyptic and empowered desert beat from the far reaches of Western Australia pours frantically from the cones to the LZ with flanged warlike intensity. NO FUTURE peppers us with three politically charged energy bombs tackling such broad subjects as power, ego and of course, death, in preparation for a full length album due out later. Sure to decimate... "Death is inevitable" indeed. 300 copies of clear flexible vinyl housed in a feltweave J-card style foldover sleeve. Simple and clean. Recorded by Alan Smith. Mixed by Izzad Radzali Shah. Mastered by Daniel Husayn. Art by Nicky Rat with photos by Nadia.

(digital, 7" vinyl - Televised Suicide / Iron Lunge)

4) Kraków Loves Adana - Swim In The Blue

Sometimes I feel like I haven’t said enough through a song, so I selected three songs from the album and explored them from a different perspective. Today I‘m sharing the first track "Open The Door" with its accompanying video with you ❤️ Taken from the "Swim In The Blue" EP, out March 25th. Kraków Loves Adana formed in 2006 after eyeing each other for months at the same nightclubs in Germany. The group’s guitar-driven electronic ballads echo dream pop with a melancholic edge. Kraków Loves Adana are Deniz Çiçek & Robert Heitmann.

(EP - Kraków Loves Adana)
