Singles of the Week (37//22)

1) Gatherers - Gift Horse (featuring Geoff Rickly) / Black Marigold

News from Bayonne, New Jersey post hardcore band...
"Gift Horse" that features vocals from Geoff Rickly of Thursday Album (mutilator.) out November 18 2022
The first germs of “ ( mutilator.) ” are close to 3 years old. It goes without saying that we, along with the world-at-large, have been transformed since then. The more we wrote, the more we welcomed the sense of being unmoored from expectation. Every idea was on the table, no matter how outlandish or far removed from our established “sound”. Luckily, these songs still feel as fiercely immediate as they did when they were conceived. The songs - and sentiments contained within - are equal parts apocalyptic & reverential. Like a photograph of a burning building captured from afar. They’ve taken on new shapes & meanings, etched themselves into our brains; we can only hope that, with time, you’ll come to experience the same emotional metamorphosis. - 01. massalette 02. black marigold 03. boxcutter ft. courtney swain 04. honey on the marrow 05. gift horse ft. geoff rickly 06. spine 07. suffocator ft. dan lambton 08. ad nauseam, i drown 09. last days numbered on a rotary dial 10. tourniquet ( for luck ) 11. twelve omaha solemn certainty Pressed on 180g vinyl in black Edition of 200 or 180g vinyl in cataract white Edition of 300 Packaged in a matte laminated gatefold sleeve 20 pg lyric pamphlet Artwork by @joseph_oneal

3) METZ - Come On Down / Heaven's Gate

News from Toronto, Ontario noise-rock band...
Of the “Come On Down” single and collaboration, METZ’s Alex Edkins offers this, “‘Come On Down’ was originally recorded during the Atlas Vending sessions but never fully finished. During the pandemic I really gravitated towards the idea of collaboration as a way to fill the void left by the loss of live music. I reached out to friends from far and wide in order to get that feeling of community that gigs provide. Joe Talbot (IDLES) is a longtime friend who METZ has shared the stage with many, many times, and this song was a very natural and fun way to catch up with him and do something positive with our time off the road.” Joe Talbot had this to say, “METZ have been a band we’ve looked up to since they came into our lives and made things better. I will never forget the first time I saw them or any of the other times. Allowing me to sing with them is a gift and I hope you like it. I love it and I love them. Long live METZ.”
