Album My Misery is Carved Into the Flesh of This World released November 19, 2022 In 2016, I started a new one-man DSBM band called “Isleptonthemoon” as a side project to Wounds of Recollection. It was meant to be an outlet for total creative freedom with less pressure to make perfect every minuscule detail while Wounds continued to be more focused and higher pressure. After one EP and one full-length in 2017, Isleptonthemoon was shelved indefinitely although I secretly attempted to revive it many, many times. My mindset of carefree songwriting had started to vanish as I put more and more pressure on myself to make Wounds of Recollection technically perfect. After 5 years, I found the joy in this project again. "My Misery is Carved Into the Flesh of This World" is the sophomore full-length from Isleptonthemoon. It’s primarily DSBM and blackgaze with elements from indie folk and slowcore. Fans of Ghost Bath, Sadness, None, Planning for Burial, Have a Nice Life, or Mount Eerie might find something they enjoy here.

3) all under heaven / Leaving Time / Glare - split

 

 

While there has been no shortage of modern-age, shoegaze-inspired alternative-rock, All Under Heaven, Leaving Time and Glare have seemed to differentiate themselves in a heavy-wave. Spanning from New Jersey to Florida and Texas, each band adds their own spin on the sound. On this three-way split, All Under Heaven leads with a jangly guitar, with Defabritus’ distinctive, lingering vocals on ‘Show You My Pain’, which slowly flows into ‘Head Down’. Leaving Time bring a punch of heaviness in the middle of the split, with their ringing guitar leads and post-hardcore inspired sound. Finally, on ‘Sunny’, Glare sound as bright as ever, with a careful blend of Smashing Pumpkins and Lush inspired swirling guitars and vocals. This first 3-way split on Sunday Drive Records captures the current sound of shoegaze/alternative-rock in 2022—All Under Heaven, Leaving Time and Glare continue to evolve in this space and build interest of what’s next.
